Piano Instructor


Matthew is a talented pianist who has been passionate about music since a young age. Entirely self-taught, he was awarded a distinction for higher music composition in the music elective program. and also received a distinction for grade 8 keyboard in the Trinity Pop & Rock syllabus.

As a former member, band leader, and arranger for the Singapore Polytechnic Jazz Band, Matthew has been heavily influenced by the jazz idiom which has inspired him to explore not only the aesthetics, but the science of music.
Matthew has performed at the Esplanade, the Light to Night bicentennial festival, amongst numerous other occasions, and also competed in the Singapore International Jazz Battle in 2018 emerging as one of two best soloists. He is currently in the Mosaic Jazz Fellows mentorship programme and is under tutelage of renowned local jazz musicians Joshua Wan, Chok Kerong, Andrew Lim, and Wen Ming Soh.

Besides being a pianist, Matthew also plays several other instruments including the saxophone and trumpet, and his field of computer science allows him to approach music with various perspectives, which are shared during lessons.
