Jazz Improvisation

The next level for any musician.

This is a course designed for the Jazz enthusiast, whereby classes form a fusion of performance and theoretical studies.

At the end of this course, students will have a firm understanding in jazz rhythms, melodic composition (improvisation) and of course, jazz harmony. Students will also develop confidence both instrumentally and vocally.

Not to worry though. You'll not be bogged down by endless theory lessons. There will be practical examples, jam-alongs, jazz music breakdown, and even jamming and performance opportunities.

*Jazz Improvisation is currently only available for piano currently. However, as the theory and skills are translatable into other instruments, taking this course can enhance and help you acquire Jazz performance skills.

These are just snippets from the actual jazz improvisation classes we conduct. While fully customisable according to every musician's level, our standard syllabus goes far deeper than what is outlined here.

Jazz Melody Composition

Understand and grasp practical jazz music theory concepts. By understanding jazz harmonies and the backbone of jazz tunes, you'll learn to compose better and understand how the other musicians flow.

Jazz Syncopation Studies

Understand how jazz syncopation places rhythmic stress in areas not usually found (eg. 2nd and 4th beats). Maintain an improvised feel even when not improvising. Study swing and other jazz rhythmic momentums.

Advanced Rhythm Studies

More studies, experimentations and practical sessions will be placed into rhythm studies. Grasp a deeper and more thorough understanding of complex and odd rhythms. Achieve versatility and turn any song into your playground.

Improvisation In-Practice

Discover how to artfully make every jazz tune, melody line and song reflect your own expression. By studying important solos of all-time and modern jazz masters, learn to dazzle with the solo or riff you've always wanted to pull off for the audience.

Jazz Genre Exploration

Our instructors can start you off with the genre you'd like to study, or guide you in exploring various styles of jazz. Understand key differences between bossa nova, bebop and mainstream jazz.

Gig & Record

By cross-training in our Band Performance Studies course, you'll get jamming and performance opportunities with other students as a band. Next, how about learning how to record your awesome music professionally?
