Monggur Tumbuck, a versatile singer who is truly cosmopolitan. She’s of Indonesian Batak, Chinese and Peruvian descent.
Monggur has more than 10 years of singing experience in hotels and pubs. She is currently back at UE square’s Wine and Cigar Bar - Connoisseur Divan after giving birth to her 2nd son. She’s been singing there throughout her pregnancy.
Her wide repertoire includes light jazz/bossa numbers, contemporary easy listening songs. Oldies to current, party to rock. Each style suited accordingly to each occasion.
She has sung for numerous functions and nightly gigs at various popular nightspots. To name a few – Anzac Ball, RDA Charity Ball, Swedish Winter Ball, American Navy Ball, American Club, Hollandase Club, 1 Nite Stand, Culture Club 1998-2002, Momo 2006-2007, Europa Music Underground 2006, Barnone, Insomnia, Hard Rock Café S’pore/ KL 2002, China Jump, Esplanade and Hyatt hotel’s Scotts Lounge 2008.
Monggur was one of the top 7 winners in the Media Corp singing competition ‘Live The Dream’. Her passion for singing has evolved from singing Batak folk songs as a kid to choral, with the Singapore Youth Choir, 5 piece accapella group performing in various local schools, to top 40s with a 6 piece band (infinity aka skin your teeth), to backing up vocals for Barry Manilow, Francis Yip and Coco Lee, Jazz Jams at White Bate & Kale and Blu Jazz Café with Enrique(guitar) and Bobby(drums) and currently a 2 piece acoustic outfit.
Classically trained in piano/theory. Minored in classical vocal while taking up music pedagogy in Yamaha Academy. Obtained a distinction in grade 8 ABRSM piano but diverted back to her first passion - singing. Started teaching vocals in Yamaha then left to teach privately.
